Please join us on June 7th, 2021 at 4:30 pm in honoring 2021 Fal l - Outstanding Women in Science award recipient our very own Dr. Rayne H. Rouce for her achievements and contributions to STEM.
T he 2021 OWIS award recognizes Dr. Rouce's exemplary contributions as a prof essor, physician, volunteer, and mentor Dr. Rayne Rouce is an Assistant Pro fessor in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Hematology-Oncology at t he Center for Cell and Gene Therapy at Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital and at Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Rayne Rouce is a physician at Texas Children's Cancer Center and a memb er of the Bone Marrow Transplant/Stem Cell Transplant Program. Dr. Rayne Ro uce received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, TX. She completed her residency training in Pediatric s at UTMB, where she was honored as the Resident of the Year from 2008-2010 , and was also recognized as the Outstanding Overall Resident in 2010. She remained at UTMB, later completing a Chief Residency there, where she also worked as a hospitalist and received an award for excellence in resident te aching. Dr. Rouce then relocated to Houston and completed the Fellowship Pr ogram in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology at Texas Children’s Cancer Center. H er clinical time is spent seeing leukemia and lymphoma patients and Dr. Rou ce heads various ongoing T-cell immunotherapy clinical trials at Texas Medi cal Center. Dr. Rouce is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric hemato logy/oncology by the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Rayne Rouce is an avid volunteer, and has volunteered for several years for various outre ach activities in and out of Houston. Her fluency in Spanish has allowed he r to provide care to children around Texas, as well as in small villages in Bolivia. She is a long-time volunteer of The Periwinkle Foundation in Hous ton and one of the two 2016 ASH-AMFDP recipients. Dr. Rouce is an Associate Director of Community Engagement, Office of Diversity at Baylor College of Medicine and has been actively involved in diversity inclusion and anti-ra cism efforts at Medical center at beyond. Additionally, Dr. Rouce is a memb er of various national and international professional organizations includi ng Childrens’ Oncology Group, American Society of Hematology, American Soci ety of Gene and Cell Therapy and their mentor-mentee programs in mentoring young bright minds in their scientific academic journey and career advancem ents. #WomenInSTEMM #WomenInSTEM #HoustonWomen #OWISAWISGCH
